Apparatus bay doors are among the most active and potentially hazardous moving systems in a fire station. Firefighters, vehicles, equipment, and overhead doors may all be moving within the same area sometimes during urgent response conditions.
BrinkAlert manufactures highly visible LED warning systems for commercial and fire station apparatus bay doors. These systems provide clear visual indications of door position and movement, helping personnel recognize when a door is closed, opening, moving, or fully open.
At Booth 2613, FRI attendees can learn how BrinkAlert systems may be integrated with new or existing apparatus bay doors.
Clear Visual Door Status
Traditional door controls and warning devices may not be easily visible from every position inside a busy apparatus bay. BrinkAlert places bright vertical LED warning lights along the sides of the door opening, making door status easier to recognize from across the bay.
Depending on the system configuration, the lights can communicate conditions such as:
🔴 Solid Red – Door Closed
🔴 Flashing Red – Door Moving
🟢 Solid Green – Door Fully Open
The result is a simple visual language that firefighters and station personnel can quickly understand.

Designed for New and Existing Fire Stations
BrinkAlert LED safety systems are designed for flexibility. They can be considered during the planning of a new station or installed as a safety and visibility upgrade at an existing facility.
Applications can include:
Fire station apparatus bay doors
Sectional overhead doors
Rolling steel doors
Vehicle maintenance and service bays
Equipment storage buildings
Emergency vehicle facilities
Municipal fleet garages
The systems are designed to work with many common commercial door operators, allowing departments, door dealers, contractors, and facility teams to add highly visible door-status indicators without replacing the entire door system.
Why Apparatus Bay Door Visibility Matters
Apparatus bay doors operate in an environment where personnel may be focused on responding quickly, positioning emergency vehicles, checking equipment, or preparing for an incoming apparatus.
A visual warning system can support a broader fire station safety program by helping personnel:
Recognize door movement earlier
Confirm whether an opening is fully clear
Maintain awareness while approaching the doorway
Reduce uncertainty around door position
Improve visibility in large or brightly lit apparatus bays
Supplement audible alarms, procedures, training, and existing safety devices
BrinkAlert products are not a substitute for required safety equipment, proper training, inspections, or established operating procedures. They provide an additional visual layer of awareness around moving doors.
